Welcome to Dr Spencer Young’s Practice

Dr Spencer Young is a Rural Generalist GP with more than 15 years of service with Queensland Health. Over this time, he has worked across remote and rural communities in senior clinical and leadership roles, including Medical Superintendent with Right to Private Practice, Senior Medical Officer, and Chief Medical Officer.

Much of this work has involved taking responsibility for small rural hospitals — overseeing A&E departments, managing short‑stay and long‑stay inpatient care, providing nursing‑home level care, and ensuring safe, continuous services for local communities. Alongside this, Dr Young continues to provide comprehensive general practice care.

This depth of experience shapes the practice’s approach: capable, community‑focused, and grounded in the realities of rural medicine.
